SWANSEA TAKES ON PERIOD POVERTY

Campaigning and Organising to End Period Poverty Together

Home: Welcome

WHAT WE DO

We live in the world's 6th richest country yet everyday girls miss school because they can't afford menstrual products and for too many individuals the cost of their periods puts an unwelcome monthly burden on their already tight finances.

Swansea Takes On Period Poverty (STOPP) was set up with an ambitious vision to make Swansea a ‘Period Positive’ city (with the support of periodpositive.com) where menstrual products are freely available in all public facilities such as schools, libraries, community centres and other private businesses.

We also exist to campaign politically on this issue as we believe ultimately tampons, pads or other things like ‘mooncups’ should be free and that there should definitely be no ‘tampon tax’. We want to raise awareness of ‘plastic free periods’ and sustainable solutions, to improve education about periods and help to breakdown taboos around menstrual health and finally to support international efforts to end period poverty around the world.

CAMPAIGN

Help us in creating a 'Period Positive' city, a huge part of our mission is fighting the taboo and stigma attached to periods. Another massive part of our cause is understanding the need for plastic free products or ecologically safe products as a long-term solution to period poverty for some.
